The Vortigaunts (taxonomic designation: Xenotherium subservilia [2] or "Subservient Alien Beast"), formerly known as "Alien Slaves", "Xen Slaves", or more affectionately known as "Vorts" by their allies, are species of sapient alien found throughout the Half-Life series.

They seem to have mastered electrical surges, and can charge themselves up to disperse energy, from great jolts of damaging current, to a steady flow that can recharge devices (like Gordon's suit ).

Vortigaunts are a species of aliens that settled in Xen from the Half-Life series. Their native world is unknown. They are grey in color, are bipedal and have a hunched over posture. They have a carnivorous diet as well. Their most bizarre feature is the third arm in the middle of their chests.

In Xen Attacks, both players play as Vortigaunts, "Drone Subjects" X-8973 and R-4913, two Vortigaunts sent to Earth by the Nihilanth.

The Alien Mode allows the player to play through Half-Life as a Vortigaunt. This mode can be activated from the Cheat Codes menu in the Options, either by getting an A-grade rating on all Half-Life: Decay missions, including the bonus mission, or entering a code.

The Vortians, alternatively known as the Vort, are a highly intelligent race of scientists and engineers who inhabit Vort. Vortians have digitigrade legs with elongated tarsals. As a result, Vortians seem to walk on the tips of their feet (as opposed to their entire feet).

Nov 17, 2018 · Vortigaunts and Alien Grunts are most of the time fighting together (seen most of the time fighting marines during Surface Tension together) and both use the third arm for feeding (saw this on a wikia page and noticed it was actually true, but only saw the Alien Grunt doing it).
