Feb 8, 2006 · Sluggish Performance - 850's all have lusty 5cylinder engines, if the car feels sluggish then it could require a timing tune up - many 850's even when new had incorrect engine timing settings set by the factory. The 20 valve engines love to rev and should be very willing high up the rev range.

Feb 12, 2009 · I had a similar problem recently ('94 850 turbo wagon w/A/T @ 124K miles): the car would just die, then restarting it was hit or miss. On a hunch that it might be the fuel pump relay, I followed some instructions I found on volvo-forums, regarding changing a couple capacitors on the relay, but screwed it up so badly that it wouldn't start at all .
