I looked up some things, there is a flywheel that volvo uses on their later 5.7L engines , with a 13.5 Inch diameter, it apparently fits under the older style bellhousing, since the part numbers are the same, the same applies for the coupler plate, and the drive shaft.

The only other Volvo engine I've seen had it's number on the rear, port side, and horizontally too, if I remember right. That's where the vast majority of them are.

Dec 17, 2007 · Re: Volvo penta 5.7GLi, history + reliability If the boat is used in salt water, I would check the vapor seperator tanks, fuel cooling systems, and high pressure fuel pumps. I just worked on two of these engines and found that the fuel cooling passages in the vapor seperator tank (and hoses) were completely clogged with salt.
