The C7 Corvette is actually heavier than the Viper in most specifications. Not sure about the specifics but the heaviest Viper (loaded GTS without track pack) and lightest Corvette (base or Z51 manual Stingray coupe) are both in the mid 3400lb range. On the other hand, the lightest Viper is 3300lb and the heaviest Corvette is pushing nearly 3600.

Viper: Lots of attention. Less than 32,000 produced in 20 years. A strong Corvette year will produce that many. Definitely feel the power more (especially torque) vs the C7 (non-Z06) Handles better on the track Nice interior (only applies to the Gen V GTS). Compare the sales of the Z06 to the sales of the Viper and you'll see why. The Corvette is a perennial seller for GM and an ACR competitor would have a negligible impact on the bottom line.

May 25, 2002 · The Viper did it's tests on Street Legal Slicks and I'm pretty sure the Vette's weren't Street Legal and and the Vipers engine, they never changed anything to it except for the mods, the Lingenfelter is a 7.0 liter V-8 TT, where did they get that 7.0 Litre at??? it didn't come stock in the corvettes engine, they never bumped the litres up on the Viper's Engine, so it must not be a Corvette ...

Like a Gallardo or 911 Turbo, both of which would get walked by a ZR1, this Viper will have to settle for winning prime parking outside restaurants and poster space on boy's walls rather than at the drag strip.

In fact, the Corvette is one of the few HALO cars that actually turns a profit in the automotive industry. The Viper, however, is only about 20 years old.
