Jun 14, 2015 · GPU mode is broken when trying to use it with Optifine 1.8.0 HD_U_D3. Both D1 and D2 work fine though. Safemode works with D3 but obviously that negates the performance improvements by using the GPU instead. This is what I get on Optifine D3 when I test. Using the current 1.5 release.
