Jan 12, 2021 · Congrats on acquiring a pretty rare Valmet! I do know that the M78 and M76 .308 mags are different and are not compatible. The .308 M76 mags are unique. As far as I know they will not use other .308 mags without modifications. Just keep looking on Gunbroker and be prepared to spend between $300-$500 per mag when you can find them.

Sep 15, 2006 · Model 76 in 308 mags are very tough. They are the same as the valmet hunter in 308. I have a few factory but you can make Galil 12 round and 25 round mags work by grinding on the sides at the rear of the mag. On MY model 76 and on my Hunter they feed fine.
