Val-Zod is one of the last Kryptonians of his universe and the second to use the mantle of Superman. Becoming the last of his House after his parents' execution by Krypton's court, Val quickly made friends with fellow orphan Kara Zor-El.

Created by Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott, the Earth-2 universe's Val-Zod takes over the role of Superman from Kal-El starting in Earth-2 #25 and throughout the Earth-2: World's End mini-series. The character's name Val-Zod hints he may be part of the House of Zod , or the Earth-2 counterpart of Lor-Zod .

Val-Zod is the second person to take on the mantle of Superman on Earth-2. Created by Tom Taylor (Injustice, DCeased, and Superman: Son of Kal-El) and Nicola Scott (Birds of Prey and Blackest Night: Wonder Woman), Val-Zod made his debut in 2014 in Earth-2 #25.

Val-Zod was the child of criminals on Krypton. When his parents were captured and executed, Val was taken in by Jor-L and Lara and became friends with their niece Kara Zor-L and their infant son Kal-L. When Krypton was going to explode, Jor-L put all three children in escape rockets.
