The Yaesu VX-5R is a triple band (6M, 2M & 440 MHz) HT with extensive receive coverage, and leading-edge features. It receives the AM and FM broadcast bands, shortwave (AM) to 16 MHz, VHF and UHF TV audio, VHF Air and public service frequencies.

The VX-5R is built into a rugged aluminum die-cast housing, augmented by an extensive gasketing system to resist moisture ingress. Tough enough to have passed the stringent shock and vibration requirements of the U.S. Military (MIL-STD 810), the VX-5R is available in both Black (VX-5R) and Silver (VX-5RS) versions.

The VX-5R is a miniature triband FM transceiver with extensive receive frequency cover-age, providing leading-edge features for VHF and UHF two-way amateur communications along with unmatched monitoring capability.

Mar 27, 2019 · Many of you wouldn’t know about my little Yaesu vx-5r. It’s a 3 band handheld radio offered by Yaesu about 15 years ago. Like many operators at the time, I grabbed one to augment my Yaesu ft-817, Yaesu ft-897, and carry as my EDC radio.
