May 11, 2008 · The VW Type 1 engine breathing system changed very little from the old 1100cc's to the 1600's. VW provided a half-inch diameter vent hole on top of the generator stand near the oil filler cap. A tube ran from the vent hole to the air cleaner, providing a low-pressure path for the vented gasses to follow to the intake.

That goes for Porsche 914 1.7,1.8 and 2.0, VW 411/412 1.7 and 1.8 and VW bus 1.7,1.8 ans 2.0 before the Vanagon WBX. You guys pretty much got the diffferences right but I want to be a little clearer: By engines..we are talking case and internals.

Post by Piledriver » Thu Jan 16, 2014 8:35 am One of the better characteristics of a turbo header is that the turbos really don't seem to give a damn... compact, short and sweet logically works best in most cases, but full header systems with an uppipe seem to work just as well, differences lost in the noise.

Feb 17, 2010 · Used a type 1 generator stand i had laying around and cut it, and paid a buddy to weld it up for me. Also paid same buddy to modify the crank pulley. Got a conversion flywheel from Cip1 Did the Cali conversion myself. I have the tools necessary to do this. So it can be done. And i do believe it better than a type 1 1776 and should go a long time.

Mar 23, 2002 · If you can't trust a VW factory sticker, what can you trust? I guess I'm starting to answer my own question--the red mark is 7.5 BTDC, and there isn't any TDC valve adjust mark. I'll just have to measure and make one myself. By the way (for the previous poster), you can't use the old pencil-in-the-spark-plug-hole trick to find TDC on a Type 4 ...
