Jan 20, 2022 · Everything fell to hand and just worked (unusual for a VW!). Then you step into the Mk8 or the ID4 and everything is so muddled. VW is trying to be too cool and clever, just like everyone else, including Tesla. We have a Model 3 now. I'd much rather drive the GTI. VW failed on the electric side with the e-Golf.

Jul 24, 2022 · Overall they are both comparable in quality and value. ID4 doors are a lot heavier than Tesla’s with a distinct European ‘think’. The Model 3 is $12k more expensive compared to the ID4 due to VW BEV’s still qualifying for $7500 federal EV tax credit. However the ID4 took 10 months to deliver whereas the model 3 a “mere” 5 months.

All the above being said, with the new Model Ys coming in at only $2000-$3000 more than an ID4 AWD Pro S and both now qualifying for the $7500, we would have ordered a second Tesla.

Dec 25, 2021 · It's the same car. The Born looks much better and doesn't have ridiculous steel wheels on the base. Boh'th have the same strengths and weaknesses and I tested an ID3 for 6 months. Ultimately I decided against buying one and ordered a Model 3 wih an Ioniq 5 as a back up plan. You can rent an ID3 or Cupra Born from VW in Germany for 3 or 6 months.

Oct 7, 2020 · The iD4 is a higher end vehicle. It's a little bigger, is rear wheel drive, and has a lot more tech, like some autonomous driving features. It's also a little more expensive. The first edition is supposed to be delivered in the first quarter of next year.
