Aug 13, 2005 · The VR5 used in the mk4 is the same as the 12v VR6, minus one cylinder. It is a 2.3L 150hp 10v motor and uses the same tranny as the VR6. It is drive by wire and coil pack driven. I wish they had updated it to a 20v VR5 based on the 24v for the new jetta 5 instead of that inline 5 that won't fit between any older cars framerails.
