These drove electric motors that were connected to the front drive sprockets for the tracks. Fully upgraded, the VK 30.01 (P) is a workable support tank with good top speed. You can and should flank with it when you can, but this tank is let down by sluggish turret traverse, and it tends to take a while to accelerate to its top speed (lowered from 60 to 45 in 1.9).

The VK3001 (P) was a medium tank prototype produced by Germany between 1940 and 1941. The tank never entered serial production. Two prototypes were made. In 1939, the German Army expressed the need for a 30 ton tank. [1] . Projects to fill the need were started by four different companies: Porsche, Henschel & Son, MAN, and Daimler Benz.

Krupp documents refer to it as the VK 30.01 (P) (fully tracked, 30 ton, design 1, Porsche) and the Pz.Kpfw.VI (Porsche). Finally it was also known as the 'Leopard'.
