The Douglas DC-6 is a piston-powered airliner and cargo aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company from 1946 to 1958. Originally intended as a military transport near the end of World War II, Douglas reworked it after the war to compete with the Lockheed Constellation in the long-range commercial transport market.

The 288th and last DC-6B to be produced was delivered to JAT Jugoslovenski Aerotransport in 1958 (YU-AFB; anno 2018 survives as the last original passenger-configured DC-6B V5-NCG see Airliners.net - for many years now stored at Windhoek's Eros IAP (ERS/FYWE), awaiting a buyer).

Nov 13, 2018 · After some nominal repair work, serial number 45564 found its way to Namibia with serial number 45563 following suit in 1994. This latter aircraft sporting the Namibian registration V5-NCF, was the first to be fully restored to its former glory, and put into operation as a charter aircraft.

V5-NCG was restored by NCA and was first operated on a revenue flight on March 31, 2001. The aircraft was the last Douglas DC-6B built. V5-NCG (DC-6B c/n 45564 l/n 1040) was the last DC-6 built delivered to JAT Airways as YU-AFB in November 1958.

It is here seen around the time of delivery to Namibia Commercial Aviation (NCA) at most probably Lusaka's military apron. Delivered to JAT as YU-AFB, then the Yugoslav Air Force as A VIP transport. It was gifted to Zambia as GBM-112 in 1975.
