Jaleel Ahmad White (born November 27, 1976) [1] is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Steve Urkel on the sitcom Family Matters (1989–1998) [2] where he was originally intended to make one appearance. White eventually became the main protagonist of the show.

Steven Quincy Urkel is a fictional character on the American ABC/CBS sitcom Family Matters, portrayed by Jaleel White. [2] Originally slated for a single appearance, he broke out to be the show's most popular character, gradually becoming its protagonist.
