The LSWR H16 class were five 4-6-2T tank locomotives designed by Robert Urie for the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) in 1921–1922. They were the last new design for the LSWR and their only Pacific-type design.

In association with the construction of the marshalling yard at Feltham, Urie built five heavy tank locomotives similar to the G16 'hump' shunters. The five new tank locomotives, the H16 class, shared many common components and design features with the G16, such as identical boiler, motion and bogies as well as similar cylinders.

Jul 17, 2015 · The ex London and Southern Western (LSWR) Urie H16 class of 4-6-2 tanks were introduced in 1921, and if you have read my Talking Stock #26 post, you will know already that this was the same year as their slightly smaller sisters the G16 4-8-0T class. The two classes sharing many common parts such as motion, bogies, boilers and fireboxes.

May 18, 2017 · The Urie H16 class consisted of just five examples, intended for use on cross-London freight workings from Feltham yard. At the time of this photograph No.30516 was allocated to Eastleigh but she returned to Feltham in May 1962 and was withdrawn in November of the same year.

Urie ex-LSWR/SR H16 4-6-2T 30517 near Wimbledon Yard, in mid-December 1962. The loco is looking very smart, and was in use on two of the R.C.T.S / Stephenson Locomotive Society 'South Western Suburban Rail Tour' s at this time.
