The Kelsey Museum of Archaeology supports teaching and research on Mediterranean, North African, and Middle Eastern archaeology through stewardship of its rich collections, an active exhibitions program, and sponsorship of ongoing field research.

The Kelsey Museum of Archaeology is located on the Central Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (please visit the interactive campus map). The public entrance is on Maynard Street. An accessible ramp is located on the south side of the building.

The Kelsey today houses more than 100,000 artifacts, ranging from prehistoric through medieval times. Most derive from the cultures of ancient Greece and Rome, dynastic and Roman Egypt, or the Middle East.

Francis Willey Kelsey (May 23, 1858 – May 14, 1927) was an American classicist, professor, and archaeologist who led the first expedition to the Near-East by the University of Michigan, where he acquired a collection of antiquities for the university.

Kelsey Knoche is in her first season as the director of operations at the University of Virginia and fifth season overall with UVA head coach Ryan Odom. Knoche served two seasons as the director of operations at VCU (2023-25) and two seasons as the director of operations and external relations at Utah State (2021-23).

When the German delegates arrived in 1914 for the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the University, Kelsey was one of two professors they wanted to see. Entering his office, they exclaimed, "So this is where the Humanistic Series was born!"
