Apr 20, 2018 · I was lucky enough to draw a tag to hunt a MB Elk in unit 51 in New Mexico. I have started to planning by viewing maps of the area, and planning a weekend trip two weeks before the hunt to actually scout the area. I have been doing Crossfit to stay in shape and will be incorporating hiking to my routine and will be spending time out on the range.

May 28, 2020 · Hey Drew! I'm also a first time Elk hunter (27yrs) & after a few times finally drew a Tag this year for Unit 51 (2nd Rifle. Oct.17-21). Also been scouring the maps & watched all the OnX e-scout series as well as the Elk hunt course. I'm from TX and was able to spend 3 days in the Unit over memorial weekend.

Dec 13, 2017 · I am thinking of applying for a Type 9 archery only elk tag for Wyoming Unit 51 before deadline in a few weeks. As a non-resident, I would be limited to hunting the areas that are not designated as wilderness areas. Unit looks good on Google Earth and On X hunt maps with lots of public land outside wilderness areas.

May 19, 2024 · Anyways, let's get to the point. My dad got lucky this year and drew out for what looks like a tough moose hunt in Unit 51. He knew that going into it, and we aren't ones to shy away from type 2 fun, so we are really excited to get out and work hard.

We have been hunting in Southwest Colorado but not thrilled with the decline in elk numbers over the last few years so we are looking to branch out.
