UMI Arts is the lead First Nations arts and cultural organisation for Far North Queensland, an area that extends north of Cairns (Gimuy) to include the Torres Strait Islands, south to Cardwell, west to Camooweal and includes the Gulf and Mt Isa regions.

As the region’s lead First Nations arts and cultural organisation, UMI Arts’ vision and programs are guided by sound planning and the strong Indigenous voices who hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of First Nations people.

The UMI Arts Gallery in Manoora, Cairns, holds five exhibitions every year featuring the artwork and crafts of our talented member artists. Each exhibition has a different theme and rationale, and showcases artists at different stages of their artistic career, from emerging to established.

UMI Arts is a not-for-profit company managed by an all-Indigenous Board of Directors. For over 15 years UMI Arts has developed innovative, community-driven arts and cultural programs delivered to members in communities across Tropical North Queensland.
