organic chemistry - How to choose a UV lamp for …
Mar 8, 2017 · I have prepared a thin film containing 4,4'-azobenzene dicarboxylic acid and I want to study the photoresponsive behaviour of them. For the trans-cis isomeration , I used a 365 nm UV LED with irradiation intensity varied in the range of 5-50 mW/cm². Not seeing any isomeration I have the doubt if I am using the right lamp.
everyday chemistry - 222nm HARMLESS UV lamp for protecting …
Mar 14, 2020 · The research I did in the internet says that the UV has ability to kill virus in 10 seconds. So having a lamp emitting harmless 222nm UV light instead the cancer deadly 254nm UV germicidal lamps will be able to protect from the diseases. The question is how to make it.
polymers - How much UV lamp power is needed to initiate radical ...
Mar 20, 2014 · Is a hand lamp like the type for examining TLC plates (5-10W, like this) enough power to do this, or do I have to buy something a lot more expensive? In my case, I'm looking to polymerize a fairly small sample (1mm thick, about 100 mm$^2$ of area, encased in 1mm-thick lab slides) and the chemistry will probably be MMA (initiated with AIBN).
What is the efficiency of UV lamp in ozone generation (Ozone g vs ...
Apr 28, 2020 · $\begingroup$ I read about UV light source efficiency from one boomarked site but just visit UV Light Ozone Generators boie.us/uv-ultraviolet.php claiming ozone output: 10g/h and still no data on power consumed in the specification "Lamps: Long-life VH** 9,000-hour high-output ozone lamps not rated "Electrical Rating: 120V~60Hz 2.6 Amps So in theory, power consumed is less than 120V x 2.6 Amps ...
How to switch Mercury-vapor lamp between UVA and UVC bands?
Apr 30, 2020 · In some cases (but not all), the glass of the lightbulb itself can absorb the UV light. Except now you're turning lots of luminous energy into heat, which is wasteful. A smarter solution is to coat the lamp with a phosphor, which absorbs the UV-C and UV-A light and reemits the energy at longer wavelengths. Depending on the phosphor, the ...
analytical chemistry - What kind of compound absorption the …
Jan 9, 2015 · Hand lamps used to inspect TLCs typically have coated low-pressure mercury lamps. While the maximum of the radiation density might be centred around 360 nm, the full with at half maximum is - roughly estimated - about 30 nm or more. This means that there's even more compounds that might get excited by the emission of the hand lamp.
Is it possible to react chlorine with hydrogen under a UV lamp …
Oct 5, 2016 · Yes, the reaction from $$\ce{H2 + Cl2 -> 2HCl}$$ (Hydrogen Chroride) is usually done under the presence of UV light, but did you check if there are enough amount of $\ce{H2}$ and $\ce{Cl2}$ to react? If the amount of the reacting gas is insufficient, the reaction seldom happens: the probability of collision would significantly decrease.
physical chemistry - Is UV-Vis absorption polarization dependent
May 25, 2016 · Electronic (UV/Vis) CD is widely applied in the determination of protein secondary structure and the absolute configuration of stereocenters in chiral molecules. An ECD spectrum is usually presented as a difference spectrum between the left- and right-polarized spectra, which themselves are no different from a typical UV/Vis spectrum.
How exactly does UV light break bonds? - Chemistry Stack Exchange
Jun 27, 2021 · $\begingroup$ UV is just another way of providing energy to the system. It is used because sometimes it is inconvenient to heat stuff or it is very slow to do so. Amount of energy provided per package can also be controlled in case of …
How much ozone is produced by ionization of air and how turn …
Apr 10, 2015 · Even if the UV light idea doesn't work out very well I still want a way to do this. With some photochemical background, I suggest to forget about running such a UV lamp. Remember that your plasma will be formed in air. For every molecule of ozone formed, there are much more harm- and odourless $\ce{O2}$ molecules around. If you cleave $\ce{O3}$
