MHI actively advocates for UT Health San Antonio initiatives that support medical care, mental health support, and resources for service members and veterans needed both during their service and after they transition back to civilian life.

Established in 2014, the Military Health Institute (MHI) has a goal of expanding the existing collaborations between UT Health San Antonio and the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

MHI plays a crucial role in supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs research initiatives that aim to improve both the operational effectiveness and quality of life of service members and veterans.
