USS Cayuga (LST-1186) was a Newport-class tank landing ship of the United States Navy which replaced the traditional bow door-design tank landing ships (LSTs). The vessel was constructed by the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company in San Diego, California and was launched in 1969 and commissioned in 1970.

USS CAYUGA was the eighth NEWPORT - class Tank Landing Ship and the third ship in the Navy to bear the name. Decommissioned on August 26, 1994, the CAYUGA was subsequently transfered to Brazil where she was recommissioned as MATTOSO MAIA.

The first USS Cayuga was a Unadilla -class gunboat in the United States Navy. Cayuga was launched 21 October 1861 by S. Gildersleeve and Sons, Portland, Connecticut and outfitted at New York Navy Yard. She was commissioned 21 February 1862, Lieutenant N. B. Harrison in command, and reported to the West Gulf Blockading Squadron.
