Dark Brown Handguard will remain original, though I may prep/spray another brown one I have lying around..Though I suspect the desert tan stock with a black cheekpiece and dark brown handguard will look pretty nice anyways.

May 7, 2004 · UNFORTUNATELY, JUST because something is USGI, It does not ALWAYS mean it was/is "good." We had FAR too many brand new USGI .45 Pistol Mags from the mid 70's to late 80's that were pretty much JUNK. They were NO WHERE near as well made as WWII and Korea War era Magazines. We had a plethora of M16 mags through the 80's that were JUNK as well.

May 26, 2007 · Here is a gun show stock, USGI Birch w/ tiger stripe. It has (5) coats of BLO, and matte furniture wax for the final layer. I use the wax because of the weather here in Indiana, kids and its a protective barrier for light scratches and buffs out easily. I am now doing the same process on (2) Blonde M1 Garand stocks.....at the 3rd coat now.

Mar 1, 2022 · I may just be a novice, but I am inclined to agree. I just compared a brand new SAI”national match” trigger off a loaded model to a good condition usgi trigger purchased from numrich. After disassembly, cleaning/lubrication, and changing to a tubbs hammer spring the usgi trigger feels much smoother.

I think the last USGI chrome-lined M14 barrels were made in the early 1980s. Middle and bottom are commercial medium and heavy profile barrels, and are not chrome-line. View attachment 544072
