SITC plays a major role in interdicting smuggled agricultural products before and after they reach US markets. SITC's work is successfully accomplished through numerous market surveys, analysis of trends and the use of various intelligence tools and data systems.

The supervisor reviews should include monitoring whether SITC officers perform timely follow-up market surveys at higher-risk markets and implement appropriate corrective actions, if needed.

SITC focuses its anti-smuggling and trade compliance efforts at the Ports of Entry (POE) and in commerce to prevent the establishment of plant and animal pests and diseases, while maintaining the safety of our ecosystems and natural resources.
