The name of the truck was derived from the Chevrolet slogan USA-1 license plate. The name would come in and out of the sport for many years, mostly for the upcoming racing series.

The first type which was a thin aluminum with cardboard backing and gold leaf embossed areas had an older "bowtie" Chevrolet logo and is the rarest example of any of the USA-1 plates.

Jan 23, 2022 · They're called "Booster Plates" or, more commonly known as Dealer Promotional License Plates. This is the first version that started in 1957. Later issues used the USA-1 logo.

Sep 1, 2004 · The original 69 plate was aluminum over a cardboard backing. Good luck in finding one, they're rare. A friend has a USA-1 steel plate from 57 hanging on the wall of his garage. It's blue with white letters. I'll post the wording next time I see him.

USA-1 was a Chevrolet monster truck driven by Roger Gauger out of Missouri. It was based on the original truck of the same name owned by Everett Jasmer, who leased the name to Gauger in 2015 for use in competition.
