Feb 29, 2024 · I have 2 degrees from UMGC and if I wasn’t an underachiever, I would have felt underwhelmed compared to the other university I attended (Texas A&M). My brother is a prior UMGC student. He is a current student at UT and he has told me that UMGC felt easier and more hands off. UT also did not accept any of his UMGC credits.

Mar 20, 2024 · Thank OP for this amazing post. I am about to graduate in a few weeks with my B.S. in Cybersecurity Technology from UMGC. I chose to apply for the Graduate Cybersecurity Management and Policy program. Unfortunately, I am unable to sign up for a summer course because the entire graduate program is being redesign.

Jul 8, 2019 · My overall view is that UMUC/UMGC is AOK for working adults and/or military that want to check a box. It is an online school with regional accreditation with a flexible course schedule and low tuition costs. I wanted to check the box of having an undergraduate degree so that I could apply to graduate school.

Yess I love Sophia! I was able to transfer the courses I took on there to UMGC that fulfilled some requirements for my degree. On the site it tells you which courses fulfills which class for UMGC. For example, their Principles of Finance course transfers to UMGC’s FINC 331 Finance for the Non-financial Manager course.

Jun 13, 2022 · I appreciate UMGC for what it’s allowing me to do and the doors it’ll open for me, but I don’t think it’s a very difficult school at all, too easy at times. Once I finish this fall I plan on pursuing my masters at a “real” college. Sometimes UMGC makes me feel a little fraudulent, like achieving this should’ve been harder.

Jan 24, 2024 · Increasingly, schools are scrutinizing Sophia. Some cannot use a UMGC diploma for graduate work if there are too many Sophia credits. Sophia is not accredited, and their run is seemingly coming to an end. Certainly, don't use it in your major. Found this out the hard way. Sophia may be easy, but it is not a good education.
