Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) is an evolving portfolio that has brought together Nursing and the Health Professions under the leadership of Pam Hubley, Vice President & Chief Nurse Executive. Our work is deliberately driven by UHN's strategic priorities and well-aligned with clinical operations.

As part of UHN, the Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) portfolio leads practice, research, and education across the health professions. Our strategy around Practice-Based Research and Innovation is integral to how we practice, how we continue to improve, and how we contribute to the development of new knowledge within UHN and beyond.

Active engagement of nurses in antimicrobial stewardship activities is long-overdue. We can all appreciate the nursing presence in management of antimicrobials in different clinical settings, however there is little to no evidence that supports nurses as antimicrobial stewards.

The Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) Portfolio at UHN brings together the three pillars of practice, education and research of 14 health professions under the leadership of Dr. Joy Richards, Vice President, Patient Experience and Chief Health Professions at UHN.

This document contains information required for UHN staff to prepare for and apply for the TAHSNp Health Professions Innovation Fellowship Program—Fall 2024 cohort. A collaborative Quality Improvement project submission is required, involving the candidate, their manager and mentor(s) in the proposal development.

The fall 2024 cohort’s education seminars will use a hybrid design (the combination of remote and in-person teaching). Online seminars will be through video conferencing, and in-person seminars will be held at UHN and collaborating TAHSNp Sites.
