Transmission line baluns for VHF and UHF · One Transistor
Apr 12, 2018 · This post will show you some easy to build baluns, designed for receiving antennas working in VHF and UHF radio and television bands. However, these baluns can be also used for transmitting antennas. They are easy to build because you only use cables similar to the antenna feeder cable.
uhf - Where are the baluns for VHF and higher? How can one be …
Feb 22, 2017 · If you're looking to minimize common mode current with a choke balun (like that returning from a balanced dipole down an unbalanced coax line), then you could slip a ferrite sleeve around the wire before crimping and heat-shrink it in place.
1:1 VOLTAGE BALUN - VK6YSF
Dec 26, 2024 · 1:1 Ruthroff voltage balun. Install July 2012. Requiring a balun to feed a balanced feed line with an un-balanced T-Match network a 1:1 Ruthroff voltage balun design using a T200-2 Toroid core was selected.
Make a wideband antenna matching transformer · One Transistor
Oct 30, 2015 · How to make a wideband impedance matching transformer (balun) for FM, VHF and UHF reception. This will convert 300 ohm balanced to 75 ohm unbalanced suitable for coaxial cable. Most do-it-yourself TV antenna projects I could find use a readymade impedance matching transformer between antenna and cable.
Coax Velocity Factor in Baluns, Does it Matter? Part 1
Aug 7, 2010 · Some VHF/UHF Balun options use tuned stub or shunt topologies to achieve the unbalanced to balanced goal; Methods include the Pawsey Stub, Split Coax Balun, Coaxial Cable Balun and Folded Balun to name a few.
A very simple trifilar 1:1 balun for VHF/UHF : r/RTLSDR - Reddit
Mar 5, 2013 · This balun has the advantage of costing almost nothing and because it uses an air core, it should work well up into UHF. It can convert any balanced antenna to work with coax. It is a 1:1 balun, so it wont change impedance.
VHF-UHF Baluns - GM3SEK's Technical Blog
Oct 17, 2018 · Today, “baluns” are about controlling interference, reducing noise; Choke baluns are best for doing this. So we should aim to: Minimize common-mode RF currents on the outside of the coax and along the boom. Don’t upset the good feedpoint balance that VHF-UHF Yagis already have. Comments and discussion, please!
VHF / UHF Choke Balun : r/amateurradio - Reddit
Aug 31, 2020 · A balun is used to couple BALanced antennas to UNbalanced feedline (like ladder line) and vice-versa. But one warning: the Pl-259 connectors for LNR-400 are expensive! If I remember correctly (it’s been 20 years) I paid about $45 each for mine.
uhf - Turn 75 Ω TV "Rabbit Ears" with a balun into a 50 Ω dipole ...
Feb 18, 2018 · A properly constructed balun will minimize common mode currents on the coax but with a compromise antenna such as rabbit ears, concern about common mode currents is not warranted. My advice would be to simply connect the 50 ohm coax directly to the rabbit ears and make the best of it.
A Wideband Balun for HF, VHF, and UHF Applications
Jan 20, 2014 · The wideband balun was designed to deliver a 4:1 impedance transformation, converting a balanced 100 Ω source to an unbalanced 25 Ω load. It was constructed using a multiaperture ferrite core and a pair of bifilar wires with four parallel turns.
