The General Electric Model U25B diesel-electric locomotive is especially designed and built to meet the requirements of modern high-speed freight traffic. The design provides for high horsepower per axle with a minimum of equipment and weight. A low nose (short hood) and large windows are provided for maximum visibility.

Shell removal on this engine is straightforward: Remove the couplers. Lift shell from the back. Careful with the rear LED. Once the back has cleared the top, slide it forward to clear the coupler support from the front plow. Reinstall in reverse order.
