The Best of 1980–1990 is the first greatest hits compilation by Irish rock band U2, released on 2 November 1998. It mostly contains the group's hit singles from the 1980s, but also mixes in some live staples, as well as a re-recording of the 1987 B-side "Sweetest Thing".

The Irish rock band U2 has released 15 studio albums, one live album, three compilation albums, 84 singles, and nine extended plays (EPs). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The band formed at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in 1976 as teenagers.

Following the release of their single "Another Day" in 1980, U2 signed a recording contract with Island Records, [2] and released their first album, Boy, later that year. The band has since released 15 full-length studio albums, the most recent being Songs of Surrender in 2023.
