Weather Spotter’s Field Guide - Glossary: U, V
Vort Max - (Slang; short for vorticity maximum) A center, or maximum, in the vorticity field of a fluid. VWP - VAD Wind Profile. A radar plot of horizontal winds, derived from VAD data, as a function of height above a Doppler Radar. The display is plotted with height as the vertical axis and time as the horizontal axis (a so-called time-height ...

Vorticity Basics - National Weather Service
Vorticity is a clockwise or counterclockwise spin in the troposphere. 500-mb vorticity is also termed vertical vorticity (the spin is in relation to a vertical axis). This vorticity is caused by troughs and ridges and other embedded waves or height centers (speed and directional wind changes in relation to a vertical axis).

hcurl - George Mason University
Calculates the vertical component of the curl (ie, vorticity) at each grid point using finite differencing on the grids provided. It is assumed that uexpr gives the U Wind component, and that vexpr provides the V Wind component. Usage Notes. The alghorithm used for the finite difference calculation is described as an Example for the cdiff function.
uv2vrdvf - NCAR Command Language (NCL)
uv2vrdvf takes as input u and v and returns the vorticity and divergence in the arrays vr and dv. uv2vrdvf operates on a fixed grid. This procedure does not handle missing values (defined by the _FillValue attribute).
VORT Test: The Vehicle On Road Test will test your skills and knowledge as a safe and competent driver. Your test will take approximately 45 minutes and you will be required to demonstrate 5 low speed manoeuvres, (move off on a hill, angle park, U-turn, 3-point turn and reverse Parallel Park) as well as a general drive.
