May 19, 2022 · The new design was passed on to Factory 615 and the Shaanxi Weiyang Diesel Engine Plant to set up the final production design soon after it was accepted for service. This design would be known as Type 63-I, with Type 63 being used for the vehicle with the 240 hp engine. The name was changed to Type 63, owing to its year of adoption.

Mar 25, 2024 · The Type 63 was designed to replace both the SKS and milled AK with its stamped receiver. The traditional stock was chosen because the higher ups loves the idea of bayonet meelees. The main factory that builds the Type 63, State Factory #296, fully switched to Type 63 production from the SKS in 1969.

What sets the Type 63 apart from other hulldown monsters at tier 8 is that its actually very mobile - with Turbo, it moves like a slow medium tank. Equipment : Hardening/Turbo/Rammer. Running Stabs over Hardening works, though personally I find the gun handling good enough, and I really like the extra HP to combat the low base HP pool.

Jul 31, 2023 · With the reveal of the new Japanese Heavy tanks, there have been some glaring differences from their forms in WoT Blitz. Perhaps the biggest change is with Tier 8. Blitz’s Tier 8 tech tree tank, the Chi-Se is not being added, instead being replaced by the Type 57, a Tier 8 premium in Blitz. The tier 8 premium here will be the all-new Type 63.

Tank being called "Type 63" indicates that the turret designed in 1977 literally time-travelled 15 years back to find its way on a tank from early 1960s. Unpopular opinion(?): The Type 57 is better than the Type 63
The Type 57 has much better armor than the Type 63, and it has increased alpha (360 compared to 320) as well as better DPM. The only thing the Type 63 offers over the Type 57 is somewhat better gun handling and mobility. Oh, and that's not to mention that the turret doesn't become completely useless once you rotate it slightly to either side.
