Turtle Back Zoo is a zoo in West Orange, New Jersey. Situated on 20 acres (8.1 ha) in the South Mountain Reservation, [2] it is part of the South Mountain Recreation Complex, which is managed as part of the Essex County Park System, the oldest county park system in the United States.

Guests at Turtle Back Zoo can explore various thematic exhibits ranging from African Adventure to a Sea Turtle Recovery exhibit. Seasonal and year-round attractions, including the Treetop Adventure Course and mini-golf, add to the entertainment options.

The zoo includes an assortment of animals including the Great Plains Exhibit and the Scottish Highland Exhibit which were added in 1999. Family fun activities include a petting zoo, food pavilion, picnic area, pony rides, souvenirs and train ride.

Turtle Back Zoo features 20 acres of family fun, and more than 150 species from around the world are featured in naturalistic habitats. Kangaroos, penguins, wolves, monkeys and giant lizards are some of the many animals you will get face to face with.
