Early 1940s "Standard" Tub Drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel
Jun 29, 2022 · So I appear to have a very similar goofy American Standard drain setup as the original poster of this thread. My kids would get the water sloshing in the tub and cause flooding in the room below because the gasket failed on the overflow of this style of tub drain. Long story short, I am in desperate need of a 37367-08 “Spud”.

May 13, 2016 · Hello, newbie here, so I appreciate any advice you pros could give! I am remodeling a bathroom in my house and will be replacing the tub/tub drain as well. However, I am confused as to what I found when I demo'd the old stuff. I am attaching pictures, but I cannot tell how the old brass...
Silicone Vs Plumbers Putty - Love Plumbing & Remodel
May 6, 2016 · Same for tub drains. Putty for the strainer, nothing on the rubber seal between tub and tub drain. I reserve Silicone for shower drains. On lav pop-ups, pipe dope on the threads where it goes through the large rubber washer to prevent water from rolling down the threads. On compression sleeves, normally nothing, or maybe light oil.
Offsetting Freestanding Tub Drain to Avoid Joist
Mar 4, 2022 · Normally the white drain shoe top flange seals to the bottom of a tub with a gasket, so the threads themselves aren't part of the sealing path. So I don't know if using thread sealant on the black threads/white drain shoe will provide an adequate seal.

Feb 10, 2006 · The tub drain package I purchased at Home Depot showing the assembly of parts. The rubber gasket in the picture is what I am putting on the underside of the tub. The ABS drain seems to be in the appropriate position and there is very little, if any gap, between the underside of the tub and the ABS. I have to wedge the rubber gasket in between ...
I can't remove the tub drain on my bathtub. - Love Plumbing
Apr 26, 2006 · Try this on the 40-year-old tub drain (should be threaded): 1. Take a hacksaw blade and cut a small 1/4" V notch in the inside edge of the drain. 2. Heat the drain with a hair dryer on high heat to soften the old plumber's putty under the drain lip. 3.
Tub drain shoe leak - Love Plumbing & Remodel
Oct 8, 2008 · Acrylic tub. Installed it and that went OK. Installed a new brass drain, since my wife wanted to switch from the toe touch to the lever and plunger style plug, and the new one's drain was in a different place, as Murphy would dictate. Used silicone between the drain spud and the tub, as I've been told putty will stain an Acrylic tub.

Above floor drain vs below floor drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel
May 3, 2012 · If you take a standard 16" tub, then raise it 4", you will have your "above the floor drain" tub. It has a space under it to run pipes. It is designed for high rise buildings where it is difficult, or impossible, to work in the room below to run drain lines and make connections, and/or make holes in the floor.
Looking for a 2 inch bathtub drain assembly - Love Plumbing
Mar 2, 2010 · I guess I would be the SECOND idiot in the world that needs to replace a 1940 era tub drain (I would have bet money they built more than two homes in the world in the year 1940) so me and Husky Dad are slowly starting to create a new 2" tub drain market. I have a 1940 tub drain I need to replace also. The tub is still in great condition but ...
