Aug 17, 2005 · Trumpeter’s T-54/55 kits are mediocre. It also depends on when it was made. Their original ones had screw-on road wheels (with exposed screw heads when done) and were motorized. Detail was soft and it was little more than a toy. Later versions were upgraded and the motorization features left off.

Aug 9, 2023 · Armed with the 100mm gun, a co-axial 7.6mm SGMT and a 12.7mm DShK on the turret top, the T-54A carried a 4-man crew. Powered by a liquid-cooled Kharkiv V-2 (nee BMW) 520hp V12 diesel, it weighed just 36 tons. The Trumpeter #07281 kit, introduced in 2008, is presumably the best Braille-scale T-54 on the market.

Although I’m sure some modifications to the Tamiya T-55 kit to convert it to a T-54 would produce a great-looking model, the Trumpeter kit is a nice kit right out of the box that is available at a very reasonable price.

In its course, about 35,000 vehicles of this type were created - only in the Soviet Union! The combat weight of the tank was up to 36 tons. The drive was provided by a single 520 HP W-54 engine. The main armament was the 100 mm D-10T wz.1944 tank gun, and the additional armament was two 7.62 mm SGMT machine guns and a 12.7 mm DSzK machine gun.

Jan 1, 2009 · As usual Trumpeter have not gone overboard on the markings with just two options for each vehicle, the T 54 has markings for two soviet tanks, one from the Czech uprising and one generic Guards emblem. The T 55 has a set of numbers for a Russian vehicle and one set of Czech markings.

One of the most prolific series of armoured vehicles there has ever been and maybe ever will be is the T-54 and its successors.
