Help sizing trimjoists for 20′ span - Fine Homebuilding
Oct 31, 2012 · Looking at the span tables from trimjoist ( http://www.trimjoist.com/spans.html), it looks like I could use j-12’s spaced 24″ on center to get a L/465 floor with a load of 40-10-10.
TJIs or TrussJoists? - Fine Homebuilding
Jan 1, 2012 · I was leaning towards the TrimJoist (floor trusses with trim on the ends for rafter tail cuts and such) for ease of use. I know they're going to be 14" deep but I haven't done framing in 10 years and, although I still have all my necessary pneumatic and power tools and such, dimensional lumber is much easier to wrap my mind around.

Openjoist 2000 & Panelized Floors - Fine Homebuilding
Jan 28, 2007 · Never used them, but for my current project I priced OpenJoist 2000, TJIs, and open web metal plate floor trusses. That was the order in which they came in price wise - the OpenJoist being the most expensive. I was shocked that the metal plate trusses were the cheapest, especially since that is what I really wanted to use for running mechanical, …
I-Joist or TJI? - Fine Homebuilding
Jun 18, 2006 · Not the whole length. So they ordered 2 diff. lengths. The first is about 16' and that goes onto a microlam beam that runs the width (about 25').Then, that leaves a span of about 22'.However, there's a load bearing wall that moves in a bit, so the 22' I-Joist gets support at the Microlam at one end, and 10' and 14' for the "next" support, and then it continues on to the …
