
Tri-y vs Shortie vs Full length, which is better?
Oct 24, 2003 · Tri-y's are full length headers. Shelby used them and that is good enough for me Shorties are good but imo are expensive and offer no advantage over the tri-y's. Other full length headers can offer more at the limit performance advantages. To a great extent the choice seems to be personal preference.

Jul 10, 2020 · I went down the road of the JBA tri-y headers, h-pipe and full exhaust system In my 69 fastback with a 302 and C4. All system components are really nice. Headers are titanium ceramic coated stainless steel p/n 6651SJT. The rest of the system is the h-pipe p/n 6651SH and full exhaust p/n 40-2650 also full stainless.

May 20, 2009 · I currently have a set of Hooker Super Comps for my FE but was looking at getting some tri-Y headers mainly because of ground clearance, and the better low end performance than the long tube headers. However I was told by a friend of mine that the tri-Y style headers fall on their face at around 5500 RPM's.

Nov 27, 2024 · FYI, you will not notice any difference in performance between Tri-Y headers and shorty headers on your car. And shorty headers are WAY easier to install without any issues with dragging on speed bumps or driveways. I put Sanderson shorty headers on my Mach 1 and they're awesome. I've been running them for six years and they look almost new.

Jun 17, 2004 · Stans headers or Ford Power Train, Both are the "same" company sorta. Anyway they make the same headers, but stans are a little cheaper. They're in Washington and I have a set of their tri-y headers on my coupe. They tuck up real nice to the floor pans, have ball type flanges on the collector and very nice thick mounting flanges at the head.

May 16, 2014 · A while back I inquired about tri-y headers and how they "fit"… Just wanted to let you guys know that I ended up with Patriot's ($165 from Summit) and they fit without any "modifications". I have a late model bell housing and a T-5. Seems like all of the less expensive headers on Ebay have a disclaimer that they may not fit all applications.

Aug 8, 2014 · Too bad. Fifty years ago, this didn't seem to be a problem. I've worked with original Tri-Y equipped Shelbys, and the fit was excellent. In the 70's, I had full-tube Casler headers on my 66. The fit was excellent. Later, I tired of the heat and noise from the headers and went back to the 289HP manifolds.
