Given the relative lack of availability of many Trek 930/950/970 bikes, your own area might well command somewhat higher prices. Higher still, if you can show it's got newer brake pads and cabling, newer chain (and possibly cassette/rings) if the gearing's "tired", along with being an unmolested and unaltered example.
Bike Forums - 1983 Trek 970
The bike is marked 970 and looks to be 1983 made, but the s.n. 008837 gives the frame made 1981 and a 950. Is it possible it was made in '81 and put it together in '83, as a 970? Also, it is a mix of components, Campagnolo, Dura-Ace, Stronglight, Dia-Compe.
Bike Forums - Sizing for Trek 750 Multitack w/ drops
When I did my second conversion (Trek 970 mtn bike to a drop bar touring bike) I bought an 18 inch 970(shorter top tube compared to my usual size) to see how it felt when riding it straight-bar. Since the drop bar conversion adds about 75mm of reach (beyond the h-bar reach of the straight bar, using compact drop bars) I figured starting with an ...

The 1983 Trek 970 is now road worthy and will see several events this year, including the Dairyland Dare in Wisconsin and E'roica in Italy. Of all the vintage Trek models, the 1983 970 is the best combination of materials and geometry. The geometry is perfect for me with a 63cm C-to-T seat-tube and a 59 C-to-C toptube.
