Aug 15, 2012 · The front nine is kind of a parkland layout with a ton of trees and tight doglegs. The back nine is more hilly and dramatic, but the fairways are wider. Most of the greens are slightly elevated and all are protected by big, well-placed bunkers.

It starts out with a tightly treed driveable Par 4 with some sand in play greenside & can be soul crushing beginning - absolutely promotes slow play by less skilled golfers.

Cog Hill's #2 is not a course without its imperfections, but those imperfections pale in comparison to what might be some of the most creative and fun holes in Illinois. Yes, the greens can be a little a beaten up (particularly at the beginning and end of the season).

Interesting layouts and well-conditioned courses have lured golfers to Cog Hill for more than 70 years. With four regulation courses, Cog Hill tests players at all levels. Courses #1 and #3 have enough sand, woods and water to test the accomplished player, but not to punish the beginner.
