May 6, 2019 · It sounds a lot like your choke isn't working properly. The choke is the butterfly valve on top of the carburetor. You can visually inspect whether it's open or closed. If it's open, you can poke it closed with your finger while working the throttle.

Mar 4, 2011 · I'm hoping someone is more familiar with these old carburetors than I am. My truck is a stock 2WD 1982 Toyota Pickup with the 22R. It ran great before my attemp to de-smog it. I recently pulled all the emission control systems off the motor and now it won't run.
