As part of the larger Wild Pacific Trail, the Lighthouse Loop Trail features a stop at an active lighthouse, along with spectacular views of massive rock formations along the Pacific Ocean coastline.

Lennard Island is situated on the southwest side of the entrance to Templar Channel, which leads four miles north to Clayoquot Sound and the town of Tofino.

To see the lighthouse first, walk clockwise to your right from the 0 km marker through a mossy rainforest which leads to the famously rugged and wind-swept coastline. The trail traces the edge of rocky headlands past dramatic views of Barkley Sound and Amphitrite Lighthouse.

The Lennard Island Lighthouse is a magnet for photographers. It can be viewed from a number of locations south of Tofino with Cox Bay and Chesterman Beach just to name two. My preferred time is on summer's morning with maybe a bit of fog moving around.
