Long Lake Township brought an action in the Grand Traverse Circuit Court against Todd and Heather Maxon, alleging that the Maxons were keeping junk cars on their property in violation of a zoning ordinance, a nuisance law, and a 2008 settlement agreement.

Long Lake Township filed a civil action against the Maxon’s and used photographs gathered from the drone as evidence. The Maxon’s moved to suppress the drone photographs as violating the 4th Amendment.
