Aug 3, 2011 · There is a bug fix in the code. I tried it in my copy and it does fix the problem. Perhaps it can be propagated in Python 3 releases. Or push for tkinter to update their copy. I think you are confusing the Tix widget set, an independent Tk-based project, with Tkinter, the Python interface to Tk, which is part of Python.

Nov 11, 2002 · Updated to Tix.py to the Python 2.2 version - Tix is now a part of the Python standard library. Updated README files to say that Tix is supported under 8.3.3. ReadMe; Source Distribution: tix-8.1.2.tgz. Tix 8.1.1. Added tixDebug procedure. To activate debugging messages, use tix configure -debug Minor bug fixes.

Tix.py: Fixed tix_configure and fixed some of the doc strings. tixwidgets.py: fixed loop, added some more docstrings, and made some progress on the global image1 problem. Look for the code around 'if 0:' - it may point towards a bug in Tkinter.

I think you are confusing the Tix widget set, an independent Tk-based project, with Tkinter, the Python interface to Tk, which is part of Python. The problem you linked to appears to be a Tix issue. That code is not part of Python.

You should either forward the patch upstream or update the metadata to document its real status. The package should be updated to follow the last version of Debian Policy (Standards-Version 4.7.2 instead of 4.6.2).
