Tinakula is a conical stratovolcano which forms an island north of Nendo in Temotu Province, Solomon Islands. It lies at the north end of the Santa Cruz Islands. It is about 3.5 kilometres (2 miles) wide and rises 851 metres (2,792 feet) above sea level, rising three to four kilometres (1.9 to 2.5 miles) from the sea floor.

Tinakula is a remote stratovolcano in the SE part of the Solomon Islands. Recent activity began with an ash explosion in October 2017, followed in December 2018 by dense gas-and-steam plumes and weak thermal anomalies (BGVN 44:07, 47:02), which continued into 2022.

Feb 5, 2010 · Tinakula is an active volcano 40 km from Santa Cruz island. The island has an impressive stratovolcano shape. An active summit crater ejects glowing lava bombs down the SW side of the volcano. Tinakula Island used to be inhabited before the 1971 eruption and tsunami.
