The provincial government of Bukidnon recognizes seven distinct tribes, namely, Bukidnon, Higaonon, Manobo, Matigsalug, Talaandig, Tigwahanon, and Umayamnon. The Jesuits currently accompany four of the seven tribes in their mission areas - the Higaonon, Manobo, Talaandig, and Umayamnon.
