No, he never really existed, neither of them did, but they somehow had physical form away from the dream world. It wasn't a time period thing, by the way, it was a "dream vs. reality" thing.

Tidus learns new Swordplay abilities simply by using his Overdrives (it doesn't matter which, so you can use whichever is best suited to the situation, nor does it matter if you successfully execute the cursor game). Stopping the cursor in the highlighted area will increase damage and, sometimes, add extra hits.

i usually don't actually start going off the sphere grid until a while later. grabbing the -ara spells on yuna for one. having tidus go into a str heavy path after grabbing some of his early stuff. having auron grab some of tidus speed boosts.

So be very sure u want ur other 2 characters to have more turns cause tidus will likely not get another until after the enemy gets a turn
