Apr 19, 2021 · Since my plan is to repurpose my BAF2015 THF-51S build, I will be using the existing chassis and power supply. The power supply was designed to comfortably output 60VDC at 3.0A. It is currently running at about 2.3A and 62.5VDC. The chassis has a fan cooled heatsink and temperature is not an issue.

Apr 19, 2021 · The THF-51S is built different from small FETs but looks to be nearly symmetric. The main difference would be that the heat appears in the volume working as "drain", which in upside-down use has a longer thermal path to the heatsink so will run hotter.

Nov 1, 2019 · Here is what I've used with my THF-51S: CD-02-05-C-54 Wakefield-Vette | Mouser Canada The picture shows a hole but if you read the fine print, this item has no hole. I have used this in two of my amps with no problems. I made holes for the screws with a hole punch.

Single ended class A was a given, and based on Ben’s excellent builds I decided to make a common drain choke loaded amp.

Apr 19, 2021 · I have a BAF2015 with THF-51S common source and for the midrange and highs, I find the lower distortion of a source follower preferable as well. I like it a bit more for the lower frequencies, though.

Apr 19, 2021 · But there is no problem with a choke loaded THF-51S. The Vds and Iq would probably be in the same ballpark, with some FFT investigation for fine tuning. And Zen Mod is working on a fool proof front end biasing version.
