May 13, 2023 · Well, the easiest answer to the title is this : someone who identifies as an animal or animals on a non-physical level. Being a therian can be different for everyone. For a decent amount of therians it's that they believe they were an animal in their past life. For me personally it's that I feel like my soul isn't in the right body.

Jan 14, 2021 · The most generous number then would be to assume that otherkin and therians even with overlap are a group smaller by around 4 to 5 times rendering us at around 3.5 million worldwide. However most of that group are as well otherkin and there's a huge overlap and taking under account how rare our state is I think this biases number very high up.

That being said, many therians attribute their therianthropy to being neurodivergent or having trauma. What is species dysphoria, and what are shifts? Species dysphoria is when you are overwhelmingly unhappy with being born a human.

A lot of therians identify as both human and nonhuman. Am I a therian if I identify as an animal physically? If you're fully aware and acknowledging that you're physically human, yes. Do I need a past life to be a therian? No, people with past lives aren't therians by default and the therian experience isn't inherently spiritual.
