Our school-wide character education program centers around a 45 minute assembly called The NED Show. NED is a loveable cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. Teachers love that NED is simple, relatable and kid-focused.

In The Original NED Show, students meet the lovable cartoon character NED for the first time, and learn that within his name is an important acronym to help them excel at school and in life. In this program, NED discovers how to learn from his mistakes, and encourages audiences to keep trying in order to reach their goals.

Located in our historic downtown area, “The Ned” (officially known as the Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center), serves as Jackson, Tennessee’s premiere performance space. The Ned provides West Tennessee with a performance space that is both intimate and high-tech.
