TeXstudio has been forked from Texmaker in 2009, because of the non-open development process of Texmaker and due to different philosophies concerning configurability and features. Originally it was called TeXmakerX because it started off as a small set of extensions to Texmaker with the hope that they would get integrated into Texmaker some day.

May 31, 2015 · I've just started using Texmaker and am using it on a fairly large screen, large enough that it would be useful for me to be able to type my document and have the output PDF file next to it. I know it's possible as the setups at my university do exactly that. However, when I click the arrow next to "build pdf" it opens the PDF in a separate window.

Jan 28, 2018 · Next time you start Texmaker, you can restart the previous session with the keyboard shortcut seen in the image (Ctrl + Shift + F8), or open a specific session file with File -> Session -> Load session. Note also that when using the normal File -> Open, you can select multiple files to open.

Jan 16, 2019 · For texmaker, it is very likely that texmaker is already in your Linux distro. Just install it using sudo apt install --no-install-recommends texmaker instead of downloading the deb file manually. apt takes care of the dependencies.
