It mainly discusses the prohibition, based in Leviticus 27:10 and 27:33, against substituting a non-consecrated animal for an animal consecrated for sacrifice in the Temple, and the sacred status that both animals receive if this prohibition is violated.

Temurah is in the Order of Kodashim, the section of Mishnaic law dealing primarily with the sacrifices in the Temple. The main theme of Temurah is an elaboration of the law stated in Leviticus 27:10 regarding dedication of an animal for sacrifice.
